OMAYAL ACHI COLLEGE OF NURSING started B.Sc(Nursing) course in 1992 with an annual intake of 50 students and M.Sc(Nursing) in 1995 with an annual intake of 10 students subsequently we increased to 20 seats. At present we have 200 B.Sc(Nursing) students and 40 M.Sc(Nursing) Students.

 

The purpose of starting this College is to meet the ever-growing need for the qualified nurses in the country, where at Present the number of qualified nursing staff are inadequate. The College has an excellent infrastructure including qualified faculty to run both the Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The college is affiliated with the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University and is recognized by the State and Indian Nursing Council.

 

The College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Queen Margarate University Edinberah and simen Frazer University British Columbia Canada  Visiting Professors from the University of Saskatchewan and from Omayal Achi College of Nursing visits the College and exchange ideas and try to achieve academic excellence in both nursing and medical field. Medical students from College of Medicine and Nursing students from College of Nursing visits our College every year and stay with us for a minimum period of 7 weeks to have their clinical in medicine, community health, obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Tropical medicine, Primary health care and other disciplines according to their experience.

 

Our Community Health Centre covers more than 40,000 populations around 40 villages. The College provides triple services like education, service and research. We have presented already 2 paper sat the International level. 5 Research projects are on a verge of completion and yet to be completed. Third International research project on Stroke Prevention has already been completed. This Centre is recognized by Medical Council of India and CRRI Students for Community Medicine and Diploma  Nursing Board Students for family Medicine are posted for their Clinical Experience.
