Ragging means the doing of any act which causes, or is likely to cause any physical, psychological harm, apprehension, shame or embarrassment to a student which includes:
  1. teasing or abusing or playing practical joke on or causing hurt to any student.
  2. asking any student to do any act, or perform anything, which he/she would not, in the ordinary course, be willing to do or perform.

The primary objective of this committee is to ensure that ragging of students admitted to Omayal Achi College of Nursing is totally prohibited and banned in the college campus, clinical area and hostels . Any violation of this by the students will be viewed very seriously and punished as per the current regulations prevailing in the State and the Central Government. The committee will also take stringent measures against violators, punishment will be severe / harsh which can be to the extent of rusticating from the Institution and / or removed from the Hostel without any notice by forfeiting all kinds of refundable deposits.

  1. Creating ragging free atmosphere in the college campus, clinical area and hostel.
  2. Creating awareness among students regarding acts and punishments pertaining to ragging activities.
  3. Creating cordial relations among students for fulfilling organizational mission and objectives.
  4. Creating awareness among students regarding how the self confidence of the individual influences the national interest.
  5. Identifying situations, within families or homes that are at a high risk for violence, where it would be appropriate to undertake: primary interventions, in particular in collaboration with other professionals; secondary interventions, including identifying victims of violence, understanding basic legal procedures and how to present evidence, referring and following up students.

Direct: through physical intimidation or attacks, intimidation or attacks, verbal abuse, unwanted attention and advances damaging property.

Indirect: spreading malicious rumors, cyber-bulling; sending unpleasant smsís, photographs or emails to victims or others.

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges for example withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Collective punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
  • Anti ragging Committee is constituted by the Head of the institution, Vice principal, Administrative officer, Class co-ordinatorís and other Executive committee members.
  • The mobile numbers of all the committee members are given to the fresher's to contact when the need arises and are also displayed at prominent places in the campus.
  • Anti ragging squads have been constituted comprising of faculty members to make surprise visits to very sensitive location within the college campus whenever required.
  • All students are expected to furnish the required details and sign in the anti ragging undertaking form issued on admission to the college.
