Application Form

Application form and prospectus can be obtained online or from the Admissions Officer, Omayal Achi College of Nursing, King Cross Road, Sathyamurthy Nagar (Avadi), Chennai - 600 062. On Payment of Rs. 300/- (Rupees Three Hundred only) by DD / cash / Money Order drawn in favour of Omayal Achi College of Nursing.

Take printout in fullscape paper, fill the form and send it to the below mentioned address with DD / Money Order drawn in favour of Omayal Achi College of Nursing. Application forms without DD/Money Order will not be considered.

Instructions to Applicants

  1. The enclosed application form should be completed by you in your own handwriting.
  2. You have to nominate two referees who should be able to provide a professional reference for you. If you are in employment the referee should be connected your present post.
  3. The additional insert sheet(s) should be sent to the referee(s) you have nominated together with stamped envelopes addressed to the College.

Eligibility:

  • The B.Sc. (Post Basic) Nursing Studies is open to all male and female candidates below the age of 40 as on 01.09.2003, who
    1. hold a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
    2. are registered with the State Nursing Registration Council.
    3. Have two years of work experience.
    4. Comprehend, speak, read and write English
  • A male candidate must produce evidence of training approved by INC for similar duration in lieu of Midwifery.

  • Candidates who have been out of work for a period of two years immediately preceding 1st September are not eligible to apply for the programme.



    Admission:

  • The present minimum strength for the course is 15 which may be raised to 50.

  • Candidates must submit their applications to the course in the prescribed form.

  • Two envelops of size 28cm by 13cm affixed with twenty five rupees postage stamp each, addressed to Omayal Achi College of Nursing should be sent to the student referees.

  • Photocopies of mark sheets and other documents listed below and certified as true by a Gazetted officer should accompany the application in the following order:
    1. Birth Certificate
    2. Secondary School Leaving Certificate, Higher Secondary examination certificate.
    3. Mark sheet of +2 or of Pre degree or equivalent.
    4. Diploma Certificate in Nursing with marks obtained in each year of the course.
    5. Experience certificate.
    6. 2 copies of duly attested passport size and one stamp sizevphotographs. One must be affixed on the application form and one will be affixed by the college on the admission ticket. Stamp size photograph for issuing identity card.
    7. Certificate of sound health from a medical practitioner not below the rank of a civil surgeon.
    8. Certificate of registration from the State Nursing Council.
    9. A brief narration in English (approximately 200 words) about the student's present post and what he/she hopes to gain from the course for which the student is now applying.
  • Application with incomplete information and or not accompanied by the above documents will be rejected.

  • On receipt of the applications, Candidates would be required to sit for the entrance test conducted by the college. Candidates comes out successful in the entrance test will be called for an interview. At the time of interview they should bring with them all the above certificates and mark sheets in original.



    Selection Of Candidates:

  • A list of selected candidates in the order of merit will be prepared by the College Selection Committee on the basis of a written test followed by an interview of the candidates. The Candidates would then be subjected to medical examination by the College. The selection committee constituted by the Omayal Achi College of Nursing will finalise the selection and the decision of the committee is final in the matter of admission.

  • Candidate comes out successful in the interview and who have been declared medically fit by the Appropriate Authority will be granted provisional admission subject to:
    1. payment of college fees.
    2. an undertaking being executed by the student as per the requirement of the Omayal Achi College of Nursing and Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh.



    Course Fees:

  • The fees structure for the course of post basic B.Sc Nursing can be paid in two spells as below.

    1. At the time of Admission to the course Rs. 87,000.00
      (College fees Rs. 35,000 and QMUC., Fees (U.K)- Rs. 52,000(650 pounds))
    2. At the time visa processing Rs. 63,000 (I.E.L.T.S Fees Rs. 6500, To and Fro Travel and Visa Exp. To U.K- Rs 56,500)
      Total amount for the course will be around Rs. 1,50,000(One Lakh and fifty Thousand rupees only)

    Candidate selected for admission should pay a sum of Rs. 87,000/-, failing which she/he shall not be allowed to attend classes. If students for any personal reason discontinue the course then they must pay the tuition fees for the entire course of one year duration.



    Uniform:

    1. Students are required to wear the uniform prescribed by the college.

    2. Female students should have their hair put up and should wear only prescribed foot wear.

    3. Male students are required to be clean shaven and should wear only prescribed foot wear.



    Hostel:

  • No hostel accommodation will be provided to the candidates. However the college will extend all assistance to students to identify suitable accommodation nearer to the college.
